[Paper 76] A Covariant Symplectic Structure for Velocity-Space Curvature and the Spacetime Metric on Phase Space $T^*M$

A Covariant Symplectic Structure for Velocity-Space Curvature and the Spacetime Metric on Phase Space T*M: An Open Framework for the Open Problem of Paper 66 — The Coordinate-Free Completion of the Hinge.

Paper 66 left an open problem: the gravitational redshift lives in the √g00 of the spacetime metric (the base), while the geometry of rest energy E=4π/|K| lives in velocity space (the fiber). Can the two be assembled, on the phase space of positions and momenta (the cotangent bundle T*M), into a single covariant symplectic structure? This paper does NOT solve that problem; it proposes a formulation as an open framework (a research programme), using only the standard tools of classical mechanics: the cotangent bundle T*M, the canonical one-form θ=p dx, the symplectic two-form ω=dp∧dx, and Hamiltonian flow. Three observations: (1) the base metric gμν(x) (containing √g00) and the fiber’s velocity-space geometry (curvature K=−1/c²) naturally co-inhabit T*M in distinct places — the horizontal and the vertical directions; (2) the “hinge” of Paper 63 is a single coordinate-free function, the Hamiltonian H(x,p)=½ gμν(x) pμ pν; (3) the equivalence principle translates as “the fiber curvature is the same at every point of the base.” IMPORTANT (scope): no new mathematics and no new predictions; √g00 and K are NOT fused (distinct roots, Papers 58/48); neither quantum mechanics nor gravity is derived. The only honest gate from interpretation to testable physics is a single differing prediction — the named candidate being holonomy (the interaction of Thomas precession and geodetic precession on the same T*M).

A note on the aim of this work. This is a structural interpretation and an open research programme — a proposal of the correct stage for Paper 66’s open problem within standard geometric mechanics — not a solution and not a new physical law. The words “Universe OS” and “Sync” are interpretive lenses, not testable claims. Nothing here is intended to contradict existing results.
