$d=4$ の $a^{(1)}a$、$d=6$ の $a^{(3)}a$ と $a^{(2)}a^{(1)}$ は、それぞれ二乗の時間微分の半分であり、一周期で消える(第3節)。

Abstract

The $2/3$ and the $c^3$ in Larmor’s formula $P=\frac{2}{3} \frac{q^2a^2}{c^3}$ are usually taken as given by the electromagnetic calculation. This paper counts, in $d$ dimensions, the forms that units and “second order in the amplitude of the motion” allow for a power, and looks at where the two $3$s come from.No new theorem or law is claimed.

First, units allow as many forms as partitions of $d-1$、reading the $(k-1)$-th derivative of the acceleration $a$ as a part $k$, the monomials that make a power correspond one to one to partitions of $d-1$, numbering $1$, $2$, $3$, $5$, $7$, $11$, $15$, $22$ for $d=2$ to $9$. For $d=3$ there are two, $a^2/c^3$ and $a^{(1)}/c^2$, and units alone do not decide (Section 2).

Second, the exponent of $c$ is $2-d-$(number of factors)、restricted to two factors it is $-d$, so the $3$ of $c^3$ is the $d$ of $d=3$ (Section 2).

Third, and this is the core. Second order in amplitude fixes one form only in odd dimensions、integrating the two-factor forms over one period of a motion of period $2\pi$, in odd dimensions they reduce to the square of the middle derivative, as $[3,1]$ gives $\mathbf{-209.261487}$ and $[2,2]$ gives $+209.261487$ at $d=5$, leaving one form ($a^2/c^3$, $a^{(1)2}/c^5$, $a^{(2)2}/c^7$, $a^{(3)2}/c^9$), while in even dimensions every form at $d=4$, $6$ and $8$ integrates to $0$ (Section 3).

Fourth, the even-dimensional forms are total time derivatives、$a^{(1)}a$ at $d=4$, and $a^{(3)}a$ and $a^{(2)}a^{(1)}$ at $d=6$, are each half the time derivative of a square, and vanish over a period (Section 3).

Fifth, the $3$ of $2/3$ is also the space dimension、the spherical mean of the angular pattern $\sin^2\theta$ is $1-1/d$: $\mathbf{0.666667}$ at $d=3$, $0.800000$ at $5$, $0.857143$ at $7$. At $d=3$, $\int\sin^2\theta d\Omega=\mathbf{8.377580}$ is $4\pi\times2/3$ (Section 4).

Sixth, the separator is whether a form vanishes over one period or survives it、units allow as many forms as partitions, second order in amplitude narrows them to two factors, and whether a form survives one period splits by the parity of the dimension (Section 5).
