木を乾かすと縮み、強くなる。けれど、抜いた水の量に比例して縮むわけではない。どの水が何を変えるかを、含水率ごとの収縮と強さで数える。新しい定理も法則も主張しない。

第一に、繊維飽和点より上では、何も変わらない。含水率 $80$ %・$50$ %・$30$ % で、収縮 $\mathbf{0.000000}$ %、強さ $\mathbf{50.000000}$ MPa（第2節）。

第二に、その下で、はじめて縮み、強くなる。$12$ % で $\mathbf{4.800000}$ % と $\mathbf{100.000000}$ MPa、全乾で $\mathbf{8.000000}$ % と $\mathbf{158.740105}$ MPa（第2節）。

第三に、これが本稿の芯である。抜く水の大半は、何も変えない。$80$ % から $12$ % までに抜く水のうち $\mathbf{0.735294}$ は寸法も強さも変えない（第3節）。

第四に、残る少しの水がすべてを起こす。残る $\mathbf{0.264706}$ で、収縮 $\mathbf{4.800000}$ % と強さ $\mathbf{2.000000}$ 倍（第3節）。

第五に、境目の下では、縮み方は一様である。含水率 $1$ % あたり $\mathbf{0.266667}$ %（第2節）。

第六に、分離子は、抜けていく水が細胞の空隙にある自由水か、細胞壁に結びついた結合水かである。「どれだけ水を抜いたか」だけでは、何が変わったかは言えない（第4節）。

Abstract

Drying wood makes it shrink and grow stronger. Yet it does not shrink in proportion to the water removed.Which water changes what is counted through shrinkage and strength at each moisture content.No new theorem or law is claimed.

First, above the fibre saturation point nothing changes、at $80$, $50$ and $30$ % moisture, shrinkage $\mathbf{0.000000}$ % and strength $\mathbf{50.000000}$ MPa (Section 2).

Second, only below it does wood shrink and strengthen、$\mathbf{4.800000}$ % and $\mathbf{100.000000}$ MPa at $12$ %, $\mathbf{8.000000}$ % and $\mathbf{158.740105}$ MPa oven-dry (Section 2).

Third, and this is the core. Most of the water removed changes nothing、of the water removed from $80$ % to $12$ %, $\mathbf{0.735294}$ alters neither size nor strength (Section 3).

Fourth, the small remainder does everything、the remaining $\mathbf{0.264706}$ brings $\mathbf{4.800000}$ % shrinkage and $\mathbf{2.000000}$ times the strength (Section 3).

Fifth, below the threshold, shrinkage is uniform、$\mathbf{0.266667}$ % per $1$ % of moisture (Section 2).

Sixth, the separator is whether the water leaving is free water in the cell cavities or bound water held in the cell walls、“how much water was removed” does not say what changed (Section 4).
