要旨

分布がもう動かないとき、その系は「落ち着いた」と言われる。本稿が問うのは、何が落ち着いたのかである。答は、分布だけである。確率は輪を回り続けることがあり、それでも分布は一つも動かない。詳細つりあいは定常性の十分条件であって、必要条件ではない。新しい数学定理も新しい法則も主張しない。

第一に、三状態の輪を作る。右回りに $0.5$、左回りに $0.2$、留まる $0.3$ とする。一様分布は流入 $\mathbf{0.233333}$、流出 $\mathbf{0.233333}$ で、定常である（第2節）。

第二に、これが本稿の芯である。詳細つりあいは $\pi_iP_{ij}=\pi_jP_{ji}$ を要求するが、ここでは $\mathbf{0.166667}$ と $\mathbf{0.066667}$ で一致しない。定常なのに詳細つりあいが破れている（第3節）。

第三に、環流が残る。$J=(p-q)/3=\mathbf{0.100000}$ が毎ステップ流れ続ける。分布は動かないのに、確率は回っている（第3節）。

第四に、時間発展させても消えない。一様から始めて $1000$ ステップ進めても $0.3333333333$ のまま、環流も $0.100000$ のままである（第4節）。

第五に、偏った初期分布からも同じ場所に落ちる。$20$ ステップで一様に落ち着くが、そこでも環流は $0.100000$ のままである。緩和したのは分布であって、流れではない（第4節）。

第六に、だから詳細つりあいは要請ではない。$p=q$ にすれば詳細つりあいは戻るが、それはもっと強い条件を課しただけである。定常性はそこまで求めていない（第5節）。

Abstract

When a distribution has stopped moving, the system is said to have settled.This paper asks what has settled、the answer is the distribution alone.The probability can keep going round a ring while not one entry of the distribution moves.Detailed balance is sufficient for stationarity and not necessary.No new mathematical theorem and no new law is claimed.

First, build a ring of three states.Take $0.5$ clockwise, $0.2$ anticlockwise and $0.3$ to stay、the uniform distribution then has inflow $\mathbf{0.233333}$ and outflow $\mathbf{0.233333}$, and is stationary(Section 2).

Second, this is the core of the paper.Detailed balance asks for $\pi_iP_{ij}=\pi_jP_{ji}$, and here that reads $\mathbf{0.166667}$ against $\mathbf{0.066667}$, which do not agree、stationary, and detailed balance broken(Section 3).

Third, a circulation remains.$J=(p-q)/3=\mathbf{0.100000}$ flows on at every step、the distribution does not move and the probability is going round(Section 3).

Fourth, running it forward does not remove it.Starting uniform and advancing $1000$ steps leaves $0.3333333333$, and the circulation stays at $0.100000$(Section 4).

Fifth, a lopsided start lands in the same place.It settles to uniform in $20$ steps, and the circulation is still $0.100000$ there、what relaxed was the distribution, not the flow(Section 4).

Sixth, so detailed balance is not a requirement.Setting $p=q$ restores it, but that is merely imposing a stronger condition、stationarity was not asking for it(Section 5).
