要旨

補間の節をどこに取るかで、誤差の出方が変わる。本稿は、チェビシェフ点の良さが「試したら良かった」ではなく「それ以上良くできない」という等号であることを、数で確かめる。新しい定理も法則も主張しない。

第一に、チェビシェフ点では、節の多項式の最大が閉じた式にちょうど乗る。$2^{1-n}$ との比は $n=5,9,13,17,21$ のすべてで $\mathbf{1.000000}$ である（第2節）。

第二に、その値は $n$ とともに指数で下がる。$n=13$ で $\mathbf{2.441406}\times10^{-4}$、$n=21$ で $\mathbf{9.536743}\times10^{-7}$ である（第2節）。

第三に、等間隔の節はこれより大きく、差は $n$ とともに開く。$n=5$ で $\mathbf{1.815716}$ 倍、$n=13$ で $\mathbf{16.416632}$ 倍、$n=21$ で $\mathbf{245.018559}$ 倍である（第3節）。

第四に、これが本稿の芯である。無作為に取った節も、下限を一度も割らない。$n=9$ で $300$ 通り試して、最小でも下限の $\mathbf{3.559066}$ 倍、下回った回数は $0$ である（第3節）。

第五に、だから「チェビシェフ点が良い」は、比べた結果ではない。$2^{1-n}$ は誰も下回れない床であり、チェビシェフ点はそこにちょうど触れている（第4節）。

第六に、分離子は、比べて出た優劣か、等号で決まる下限かである。「良い」という言葉の中身が、二つの場合で別である（第4節）。

Abstract

Where the nodes of an interpolation are placed changes how the error behaves.This paper checks in numbers that the merit of Chebyshev nodes is not “it worked well when tried” but “it cannot be done better”.No new theorem or law is claimed.

First, with Chebyshev nodes the maximum lands exactly on a closed form、the ratio to $2^{1-n}$ is $\mathbf{1.000000}$ at $n=5,9,13,17,21$ (Section 2).

Second, that value falls exponentially with $n$、$\mathbf{2.441406}\times10^{-4}$ at $n=13$ and $\mathbf{9.536743}\times10^{-7}$ at $n=21$ (Section 2).

Third, equispaced nodes give more, and the gap widens with $n$、$\mathbf{1.815716}$ times at $n=5$, $\mathbf{16.416632}$ at $n=13$, $\mathbf{245.018559}$ at $n=21$ (Section 3).

Fourth, and this is the core. Random nodes never break the bound、over $300$ draws at $n=9$ the smallest was $\mathbf{3.559066}$ times the bound, with $0$ falling below (Section 3).

Fifth, so “Chebyshev nodes are best” is not the outcome of a comparison、$2^{1-n}$ is a floor no one can pass, and Chebyshev nodes touch it (Section 4).

Sixth, the separator is whether “best” means a comparison won or an equality with a floor、the word carries different content in the two cases (Section 4).
