工程能力は指数で表され、$1.33$ が慣行の目安とされる。本稿が示すのは、ばらつきだけを見る指標が偏りという別の失敗にまったく反応しないこと、そして反応しないあいだに不良率が $\mathbf{359.1607}$ 倍になることである。新しい定理も法則も主張しない。

第一に、$C_p$ は中心を動かしても変わらない。規格の中心にいても $0.5$ ずれても $\mathbf{1.3333}$ のままで、$12$ 桁動かない（第2節）。

第二に、これが本稿の芯である。そのあいだに不良率は $\mathbf{359.1607}$ 倍になる。$\mathbf{63.3425}$ ppm から $\mathbf{22750.1329}$ ppm へ（第2節）。

第三に、偏りを見る指標のほうは、ちょうど半分に落ちる。$C_{pk}$ が $\mathbf{1.3333}$ から $\mathbf{0.6667}$ へ（第2節）。

第四に、慣行の $1.33$ は $\mathbf{66.0733}$ ppm を意味する。$60$ より大きく $70$ より小さい。よく引かれる $63$ ppm は中心にいる場合の値である（第3節）。

第五に、ずれを許したまま同じ指標を保つ代償は大きい。ばらつきを $\mathbf{0.5000}$ 倍にしなければならない（第3節）。

第六に、分離子は、指標が両側の余裕の小さいほうを取るかどうかである。最小を取る指標は、遠いほうの余裕をいくら広げても動かない（第4節）。

Abstract

Process capability is reported as an index, with $1.33$ taken as the customary target.What this paper shows is that an index watching only the spread is entirely blind to a second kind of failure, and that the defect rate rises $\mathbf{359.1607}$-fold while it stays blind.No new theorem or law is claimed.

First, $C_p$ does not respond to the centre、on target or $0.5$ off it, the value stays $\mathbf{1.3333}$, unmoved to $12$ digits (Section 2).

Second, and this is the core.The defect rate rises $\mathbf{359.1607}$-fold meanwhile、from $\mathbf{63.3425}$ ppm to $\mathbf{22750.1329}$ ppm (Section 2).

Third, the index that watches the offset falls to exactly half、$C_{pk}$ from $\mathbf{1.3333}$ to $\mathbf{0.6667}$ (Section 2).

Fourth, the customary $1.33$ means $\mathbf{66.0733}$ ppm、above $60$ and below $70$; the frequently quoted $63$ ppm belongs to a centred process (Section 3).

Fifth, keeping the index while tolerating the offset is expensive、the spread must be cut to $\mathbf{0.5000}$ of what it was (Section 3).

Sixth, the separator is whether the index takes the smaller of the two margins、an index that takes a minimum will not move however far the other limit is widened (Section 4).
