要旨

歯車の圧力角は、強さのために選ばれる。本稿が示すのは、その同じ角度が伝動のなめらかさを逆向きに動かすこと、そして一つの歯車の中で「比」と「なめらかさ」がまったく別の種類の量に決められていることである。新しい定理も法則も主張しない。

第一に、これが本稿の芯である。圧力角を上げるとかみ合い率が下がる。$14.5$ 度で $\mathbf{1.919856}$、$30$ 度で $\mathbf{1.344019}$ で、比は $\mathbf{1.428444}$ である（第2節）。

第二に、歯数を増やすと上がる。$10$ と $20$ の組で $\mathbf{1.463161}$、$60$ と $60$ の組で $\mathbf{1.784715}$ である（第2節）。

第三に、$1$ を割ると伝動が途切れる。歯たけを削っていくと $\mathbf{0.572468}$ モジュールでちょうど $1$ になり、その下では次の歯が噛む前に前の歯が離れる（第3節）。

第四に、境目の両側を見た。その $1$ パーセント下では $1$ を割り、$1$ パーセント上では超える（第3節）。

第五に、そのあいだ歯車比は動かない。$40$ 枚と $20$ 枚の比はちょうど $2$ で、$12$ 桁変わらない（第4節）。

第六に、分離子は、比を決めているのが整数だということである。なめらかさは連続量が決め、比は歯の枚数が決める。同じ機械の中で、二つの量の種類が違う（第4節）。

Abstract

The pressure angle of a gear is chosen for strength.What this paper shows is that the same angle moves the smoothness of the drive the other way, and that within one gear pair the ratio and the smoothness are settled by quantities of entirely different kinds.No new theorem or law is claimed.

First, and this is the core.Raising the pressure angle lowers the contact ratio、$\mathbf{1.919856}$ at $14.5$ degrees against $\mathbf{1.344019}$ at $30$, a factor of $\mathbf{1.428444}$ (Section 2).

Second, more teeth raise it、$\mathbf{1.463161}$ for a pair of $10$ and $20$, $\mathbf{1.784715}$ for $60$ and $60$ (Section 2).

Third, below one the drive is interrupted、cutting the tooth height reaches exactly one at $\mathbf{0.572468}$ modules, below which one tooth leaves before the next arrives (Section 3).

Fourth, both sides of the boundary were examined、one per cent below it falls short of one and one per cent above it exceeds one (Section 3).

Fifth, the gear ratio does not move meanwhile、$40$ teeth against $20$ give exactly two, unchanged to $12$ digits (Section 4).

Sixth, the separator is that the ratio is settled by integers、smoothness is settled by continuous quantities and the ratio by a count of teeth: two kinds of quantity in one machine (Section 4).
