要旨

本稿が問うのは、為替の「出来高」（＝ティックの本数）が値動きの言い換えにすぎないのか、である。答えは、言い換えではない。だが分けているのは大きさだけで、方向ではない。新しい数学定理も新しい法則も主張しない。

第一に、★ 予言①は外れた。本数と値動きの順位相関は 0.4860 にとどまる。 四銘柄で 0.4695 から 0.5173 である。同じものの言い換えと呼べるほど高くない（第3節）。

第二に、層の比の形はよく似ている。 本数で層別しても値動きで層別しても、五分位の比は差の絶対値 中央 0.0335 である（第4節）。

第三に、これが本稿の芯である。★ 予言⑤も外れた。値動きをそろえてから本数で分けても、0.1581 だけ分かれる。 そろえない場合の 0.3644 の、半分近くが残る（第5節）。

第四に、★ 逆向きはもっと小さい。本数をそろえて値動きで分けると 0.0521 である。 比は 3.0323。本数のほうが、先の値動きをよく分ける（第5節）。

第五に、本数は時間帯で大きく変わる。 最大 ÷ 最小は四銘柄の中央で 6.7719 倍、UTC 14 時の 8,385 から 21 時の 1,516 までである（第6節）。

第六に、★ だが本数は方向を持たない。 本数の五分位での日次 t は、20 通りのうち絶対値 2 以上が 0 である。分けているのは大きさだけである（第6節）。

Abstract

What this paper asks is whether the “volume” in foreign exchange（the tick count）is merely a restatement of the move: and the answer is that it is not. But what it separates is magnitude only, not direction. No new mathematical theorem and no new law is claimed.

First, ★ prediction ① failed. The rank correlation between the tick count and the move is only 0.4860, running from 0.4695 to 0.5173 across the four instruments. Not high enough to call them restatements of one another (Section 3).

Second, the shape of the layer ratio is very similar. Layered by the count or by the move, the quintile ratios differ by a median absolute value of 0.0335 (Section 4).

Third, and this is the core of the paper: ★ prediction ⑤ failed too. Hold the move equal and the count still separates by 0.1581、nearly half of the 0.3644 it separates by when nothing is held equal (Section 5).

Fourth, ★ the reverse is much smaller: hold the count equal and split by the move and only 0.0521 remains. A ratio of 3.0323. The count separates the forward move better (Section 5).

Fifth, the count varies a great deal by hour. Max ÷ min is 6.7719 at the median of the four instruments, from 8,385 at 14:00 UTC to 1,516 at 21:00 (Section 6).

Sixth, ★ but the count carries no direction. Across the count quintiles the daily t exceeds 2 in absolute value in 0 of 20 combinations. What it separates is magnitude alone (Section 6).
