要旨
理容所・美容所の数を、衛生行政報告例（令和6年度末、厚生労働省）と経済センサス（令和3年、産業小分類782・783）で数え、都道府県ごとに比べた。
数は合わない。 理容所は 107,995 対 86,476（+24.9%）、美容所は 277,752 対 161,280（+72.2%）。衛生行政報告例は許可を受けた施設、経済センサスは事業所である。
1店あたりの従業者は2人前後。 理容所は 1.80人／施設、美容所は 2.12人／施設。どちらも、ほとんどが1人か2人でやっている店である。
高齢化が進んだ県ほど、美容所より理容所が多い。 美容所÷理容所の比は、東京都の 3.90 から秋田県の 1.39 まで開き、高齢化率との相関は r = −0.668。一方で、人口あたりの施設数はどちらも高齢化とともに増える（理容所 r = +0.792、美容所 r = +0.723）。
北海道は美容所÷理容所が 1.97 で47都道府県中39位。人口1万人あたり理容所11.38・美容所22.41である。
Abstract
I counted barbershops and beauty salons in the Report on Public Health Administration (end of FY2024, MHLW) and the Economic Census (2021, subcategories 782 and 783), and compared them by prefecture.
The counts disagree. Barbershops: 107,995 against 86,476 (+24.9%). Beauty salons: 277,752 against 161,280 (+72.2%). The former counts licensed premises, the latter establishments.
Each shop has about two workers. Barbershops average 1.80 workers per premises and beauty salons 2.12. Almost all are run by one or two people.
The more aged the prefecture, the more barbershops relative to beauty salons. The ratio of beauty salons to barbershops runs from 3.90 in Tokyo to 1.39 in Akita, correlating with the share aged 65 and over at r = −0.668. Per head of population, however, both increase with ageing (barbershops r = +0.792, beauty salons r = +0.723).
Hokkaido’s ratio is 1.97, 39th of 47 prefectures, with 11.38 barbershops and 22.41 beauty salons per 10,000 residents.
