要旨

本稿が問うのは、「複数の通貨ペアに分ければ危険が減る」の減り方を決めているのは何か、である。新しい数学定理も新しい法則も主張しない。

第一に、★ 組の相関はばらばらである。 EURUSD と GBPUSD は +0.6577、USDJPY と EURUSD は −0.4252 で、六つの組が正にも負にも散らばっている（第3節）。

第二に、これが本稿の芯である。★★ なのに平均すると +0.0455 で、ほとんど独立に見える。 実効本数は 3.5194 で、本数 4 の 0.8799 である。「実効本数が 4 に近い」は「四つが独立だった」を意味しない（第4節）。

第三に、★★ 二つずつに分けると、同じ「二つに分けた」が 1.2065 から 3.4797 まで開く。 EURUSD と GBPUSD は 1.2065 で、ほぼ一本ぶんにしかならない（第5節）。

第四に、★ 相関は年で動き、片方の組は上がり続けている。 EURUSD と GBPUSD は 2020 年の +0.5152 から 2023 年の +0.8009 へ上がり、実効本数は 4.2227 から 3.3299 へ下がった（第6節）。

第五に、★ 予言⑤は外れた。 最大ドローダウンは 2.2229 分の一に縮み、ばらつきの 1.8760 よりよく縮んだ（第7節）。

第六に、★ 通貨で分けるより、時間帯で分けるほうが独立に近い。 実効本数 ÷ 本数 は通貨 0.8799 に対し時間帯 1.0008 である。ただし同じ日の別の時間帯なので、独立な取引ではない（第7節）。

Abstract

What this paper asks is what actually sets the reduction in risk behind “split across several currency pairs and the risk goes down”. No new mathematical theorem and no new law is claimed.

First, ★ the pair correlations are all over the place. EURUSD with GBPUSD is +0.6577 and USDJPY with EURUSD is −0.4252; the six pairs land on both sides of zero (Section 3).

Second, and this is the core of the paper: ★★ averaging them gives +0.0455, which looks almost independent. The effective count is 3.5194, or 0.8799 of the 4 streams. “An effective count near 4” does not mean “the four were independent” (Section 4).

Third, ★★ split two at a time, the same “split in two” opens from 1.2065 to 3.4797. EURUSD with GBPUSD gives 1.2065、barely one stream’s worth (Section 5).

Fourth, ★ the correlations move year by year, and one pair keeps climbing. EURUSD with GBPUSD goes from +0.5152 in 2020 to +0.8009 in 2023, while the effective count falls from 4.2227 to 3.3299 (Section 6).

Fifth, ★ prediction ⑤ failed. The maximum drawdown shrank by 2.2229, better than volatility’s 1.8760 (Section 7).

Sixth, ★ splitting by hour of the day is closer to independent than splitting by instrument. Effective count ÷ streams is 0.8799 for instruments against 1.0008 for hours. Those are different hours of the same day, however, not independent trades (Section 7).
